The New Volkswagen Polo won the award for Car of the year 2010. One of the most prestigious prizes any car can get. It won by 10 points against its main rival contestant Toyota iQ with 347 to 337. Of the 59 Jury member 23 voted it as their favorite car and it got at least one point of support from each jury member. Placed third was Opel Astra in front 30 other cars all eligable for being car of the year. Out of all these cars the Volkswagen Polo emerged victorious for the first time since 18 years where the volkswagen Golf won. Although it is smaller than most of the other competitors, it can seat the same number of people with even greater comfort, and thereby not even limiting the trunk space. A true work of designer quality. It is also a very efficient car when it comes to fuel consumption with its new 1.6 Liter GTI Diesel engine.The average fuel consumption is 3.3 litre/100 km.
