SEAT

SEAT, S.A(pronounced "say-at") is a spanish car manufactorer most commonly known as SEAT. It was founded in 1950 by Instituto Nacional de Industria with the starting help of Fiat. Its headquarters are located in Martorell, near Barcelona is Spain and it sold a high point of cars (408,318) in 2006. In 1967 SEAT was the biggest car manufactorer in Spain which caused Fiat to increase its shares from 6% to 36% and even though it was not a majority it was considered to be in charge of SEAT. Originally most of SEAT´S cars were based on the fiat models for example the SEAT Panda was based on the Fiat Panda. In 1971 it was decided that the Spanish people were only buying 81 cars per thousand people which is not a lot and so they decided raise the production of SEAT. In 1982 after SEAT and the Spanish government needed some money to increase the prouction and Fiat did not want to pay for it their relationship ended. IN 1986 Audi Ag became the major shareholder SEAT and in 1990 the 100% owner. During the mid 2000s Audi transferred all of their shares to Volkswagen AG.
