Scania Aktiebelag is a swedish truck manufactorer commonly known as Scania, with its headquarters in Södertälje, Sweden. It was founded in 1891 by two separate firms called Vabis and Scania. Vabis was a metal producer and Scania a bycicle producer which both went into debt with their first productions of trucks. So they merged to avoid bankruptcy, they struggled during WW1 but were then bought by a rich swedish family and became solid again. During the later years it continued rising until it merged with SAAB in 1969. It then split up again in 1995 and Volvo and later MAN tried to buy it but no one succeded until Volkswagen aquired 70.9% of it and now counts it as the 9 marque of the Volkswagen group. Scania mostly produces class 8 trucks, busses, and industrial and marine engines. Ida´s father works at Scania AB which is the reason her family had to move to Brazil since one of the most important markets are in Brazil.
