Peugeot S.A. is the long(er) name for Peugeot, a French car maker, which is in the PSA Peugeot Citroen alliance, the second biggest in Europe. It was originally founded in Sochaux, France, the same place where the operational headquarters are located today. Meanwhile its offices are located in Ave de la Grande Armée, Paris. Peugeot has presented a new Hybrid electric style car similar to the Chevy Volt.
It was founded in 1810 as a coffee mill company by the Peugeot family of Montbeliard, Franche-Comte, France, and Valentignay. In 1842 the company also started producing Coffee, pepper, and salt grinders. Then the company started producing crinoline dresses which contained wire. Then they started producing umbrellas, then saw blades, then wire wheels, and finally bicycles. In 1882 Armand Peugeot built his first penny-farthing. Then a few years later in 1889 after taking interest in Daimler’s ideas, the Peugeot family released their first automobile, a three wheeled steam-powered car, of which only four were ever made. The car and bike company worked together until it finally split in 1926. In 1890 after meeting Daimler again he decided to install an internal combustion engine from Panhard. In 1896 Peugeot built s its own first engine. In 1903 Peugeot also added a small motorcycle. After they took over European Chrysler in 1980 they had serious financial problems. It then dropped it again 1986.
Peugeot was also very successful in their ancient racing days; they decided to take part in the French grand touring prix and won it in their first year in 1912, even after the pilot took a 20 minute pit-stop. They also got the record for fastest driven car in May 13 when they drove 150.5 km/h. For the next few years until now they have never had any repeated win streak again.
I like to make fun of Peugeot because it’s French and if you say it in French it sounds really funny. They probably have the best quality French cars which is not something so hard to accomplish as French cars usually suck more than American ones. Peugeot has the prettiest French cars as well though, and my family had one when we were vacationing in Reunion. It was acceptable but the break didn’t work and nearly killed us. So the Quality is not that good. I would take a Peugeot but not for long term as I would be afraid. Peugeot has nice designs though, and I especially like the front lights.
