Renault

Renault S.A., Commonly know as Renault is a French car maker and one of the oldest car manufactorers in the world.It doesnt just produce cars though, it also produces trucks, vans, busses, tractors, and even autorail vehicles. The company does usually make new car models but instead upgrades the old ones to something completely new. The most sold cars of renault are the Laguna and the Clio Currently Renault is very caught up in making fuel efficient, elctric powered,environmetaly harmless technology that most people consider revolutionary.

Since 1999 Renault signed an alliance with Nissan, that created a partnership between the companies making them the fourth largest automaker in the world. The companiy also owns a smaller car company, Dacia, and the South korean division of Renault cars. It services 118 countries all over the world, and has a revenue of €33.71 Billion.

Renault has recently became very well known in the F1 world due to the win of Fernando Alonso with Renault in 2005. Even before this win, Renault was always one of the big competitors in F1, but never won as frequently as they would have liked, even after they took over benneton racing in 2001. Renault also has its own racing chamionship though, "Renault F1" is the formula 1 adoptation with purely Renault cars racing in it.

Renault was founded on the 25th of February 1899 by the frenchmen, Louis Renault, Marcel Renault, Fernand Renault. Officially though only Louis Renault founded Renault as in 1903 Marcel Renault dies in a car accident. During the second world war though Renault produces war machinery for the axis powers, and is in response bombed by the allies, Louis is arrested and dies in prison in 1944.

I dont have anything against Renault except that its french and that the cars are way to overrated. I was a big fan of F1 until Renault won in 2005, and i completely stopped watching after Schumacher stopped racing. I dont think the information about Renault being thrid biggest is correct as I think it might be that Hyundai or Ford are probably bigger than it. Nevertheless its still a remarkable feat that they are even in the top 10. I dont know why they have gotten so many "car of the year" awards, but its probably because of the price. It always is.
